About Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching is a creative relationship between you and me, working together to support you at this time in your life. I am happy to work in blocks of 6, 8, 12 sessions or longer term.

Bring a project, a plan, an idea, a dream. Together we can get you started or keep you going or help you let go and fly. Maybe all three!

You may want to challenge yourself, whether it is related to work or your relationships, but have not yet made that first move. What’s stopping you? Fear? Anxiety? Lack of confidence? Time management? How can we work towards you taking that first leap? With my support, we will explore areas of interest that perhaps you have not yet fully recognised. I have worked with people from all backgrounds on how best to move forwards, to become unstuck, to reach that goal that has been evading you. I can’t do the work for you, but work with you so you can live and lead an authentic life, getting the most of out every day.

My Approach

Existential coaching grew out of Existential Psychotherapy. The style is non-directive, that is I do not provide answers or solutions or tell you what to do. Being present, allowing you to explore your feelings and dilemmas and become more aware of the choices you have made and are making, may help you reassess your values and find your voice, ultimately allowing you to move forward. While this process may encourage past events to emerge, we will focus more on the here and now.

My clients are from varied and diverse backgrounds and ages, and this approach is co-creative. We work together to find the best way forward for you. Accepting the person you are and the life you are currently living instead of hoping to be someone you can never be, opens up possibilities, so that you can begin to develop and grow. Self-acceptance and awareness are key to moving forward. We all experience transitions in our lives, we can all get stuck, but being stuck is a good place to start breaking patterns and looking ahead. While I may challenge you, I will respect you. Part of our work will be discovering what it is that makes you stand out from the crowd, personally or professionally.

Creative Mentorship is very much about what I can offer from my past experience as a writer. I have worked as a creative mentor for many people at different stages in their creativity. Those who are stuck with their creativity, mid-way in a piece of work, not yet  started or who want support while they create, have benefitted from one to one sessions.

Differences between therapy and coaching

Therapy is usually open-ended and can be more in-depth than coaching. Coaching can be time-limited (though adjustments can be made to suit the individual) and often with specific aims. As your coach I will work with you to find your way forwards, to create your experience and make the changes you want to make.

Sometimes we are too scared to step a little deeper. Look ahead, to the horizon, to your possibilities.
